For Angela Wichmann, painting is a space of complete immersion—a dialogue between light, color, and perception. Her fascination with the interplay of light and shadow, the power and play of colors, led her to art and continues to captivate her. The artist paints representationally, rarely figuratively, and prefers to work in urban settings. Within these environments, she explores the interplay between reality and perception. Reflecting on what already exists, while simultaneously embracing the freedom to alter it and create something new, are the driving forces behind her artistic practice. Angela Wichmann is particularly fascinated by artificial light: how it shapes moods, transforms colors, and leaves traces in the darkness. Whether colored light sources in urban spaces, distorted reflections on water, or transparent reflections—light becomes the true protagonist of her paintings.
